Group strategy

To understand molecular events underlying the pathophysiology of ischemia-reperfusion injury and subsequent heart failure development with the intention of developing improved strategies for myocardial protection. Most of our work is in genetically engineered mice, where heart function and infarct size are related to possible upregulation/downregulation of putitative pathogene factors and investigations of their role in physiology and pathophysiology. We analyze human material to cross-check the relevance of murine work.
In another line of research, gene therapy through a peripehral approach is explored.
